CHLORINATED POLY VINYL CHLORIDE [CPVC] pipes and fittings,are the latest addition by Ravi Industries, Mumbai to its ever growing kitty of quality products, manufactured for its discerning customer. These pipes & fittings are intended for use in residential and commercial, hot and cold, potable water distribution systems. CPVC Pipes & Fittings are produced from a speciality blend of chlorinated polyvinyl chloride material with unique physical properties desirable for piping applications. The compounds used for extrusion of the pipes meets the requirements of ASTM Class 23447 B as defined in ASTM Specification D1784. These pipes have a maximum service temperature upto 820C and have a design stress of 2000 PSI. CPVC Plumbing System is approved for contact with potable water in wide range of countries including USA, UK, Canada, Germany, France, The Netherlands, Middle East among others. CPVC Pipes are known to last for over 50 years after installation.

The Polymer is effectively bonded in the inside and outside of the Aluminium core by melt adhesive. This Aluminium Core is 100% leak proof for both liquids and gases making it an ideal pipe for transporting gases and liquids.


CPVC Pipes are available in sizes ranging from 15 mm (½”) to 50 mm (2”). There are two different Standard Dimensional Ratios (SDR) in which they are manufactured namely: SDR-11 and SDR-13.5. All fittings are manufactured as per SDR 11. Since both SDR 11 and SDR 13.5 pipes are made from the same compound material, they have the same physical properties. The CPVC fittings are manufactured from compound material as per the relevant ASTM standard requirement. Due to the differences in the wall thickness of SDR 11 and SDR 13.5, at any given temperature, they have different pressure ratings. CPVC pipes are used for hot and cold potable water flow in Residential Buildings, Commercial Buildings, Hotels, Educational Institutions, Swimming Pools etc. that require hygienic and uncontaminated supply of water. Because of better chemical and heat resistant properties when compared to other thermoplastic materials, they can be used in Chemical Factories & for other Industrial requirements too.


CPVC Pipes and Fittings have a natural immunity to scaling, corrosion, and microbiologically influenced corrosion. It has a general life expectancy of 50 years & over a long, low-maintenance service life as compared to traditional metallic systems.

The pipes have a higher flow rate due to the pipes being smoother & having better friction resistance properties.

Being light in weight, CPVC piping systems are easier to handle and install. Fabrication is quick, simple, and clean as there is no need for a soldering torch or heavy equipment. Installation is done by solvent cement joining process which is quick and leak-proof if properly done.

CPVC Pipes & Fittings have better Flame & Smoke resistant characteristics when compared to other non-metallic piping options. They have a very high _ash-ignition temperature and are not combustible as they do not sustain burning.

Because of its high heat & pressure resistant properties, CPVC Pipes are the preferred choice for Hot & Cold water plumbing in Residential & Commercial Buildings as well as in transporting of hot & pressurized water for industrial usage.

CPVC Pipes & Fittings have inertness or excellent chemical resistance properties to a wide range of chemicals. It is unaffected by chlorinated water, which is essential for it to be used safely in potable water supplies.

CPVC has lower Thermal Expansion & Conductivity as compared to other thermoplastics. Therefore, distortion of pipelines due to flow of hot fluids & thus leading to looping is reduced. It is also more energy efficient as there is much lesser heat loss as compared to other materials, especially metal thus exhibiting better insulation properties

Installation Guide

Cutting : CPVC pipe is easy to cut with a tube cutter, a power or hand saw, or a ratchet cutter. When using a ratchet cutter, it is essential that the blades are sharp to facilitate a smooth and clean cut. If a tube cutter is used, the blade used must be for specially cutting plastic and not for cutting metal. Also ensure while cutting that all cuts are made square to the tubing so as to have optimal bonding area for the joint.

Chamfering & Cleaning : After cutting, chamfer the end of the pipe and remove any burrs present. A chamfering tool that produces a 10° to 15° chamfer is ideal for joining purposes. Use a clean, dry rag to wipe dirt and moisture from the fitting sockets and tubing ends.

Dry Fitting : This is done just before a joint is solvent cemented and is done to check the fitting socket tolerances. The pipe should go into the socket 1/3rd to 2/3rd of the socket depth before it makes contact with the socket wall. This interference is necessary and provides a joint that will quickly attain the desired handling strength and give good, long-term service

Solvent Cementing Procedure : CPVC Pipes and Fittings are joined using Solvent Cement specifically made for CPVC. Solvent cements for CPVC are manufactured as per ASTM F493 for use with CPVC hot and cold water piping (1/2” to 2” sizes) that conform with ASTM D2846.

Apply a light coat of CPVC cement to the socket contact surface and a full layer to the pipe end contact surface. Immediately insert the pipe into the socket and bottom it with a 1/4 turn. Hold the pipe in the socket firmly for 10 to 15 seconds. When released, the pipe should not push out of the socket. Do not use excessive amount of cements or allow them to puddle in the socket as this can lead to clogging. Wipe off any excess cement.

Setting & Curing Times : Solvent set and cure times are a function of pipe size, temperature, and relative humidity. Generally, curing time is shorter for drier environments, smaller sizes, and higher temperatures.

Safety Precautions : Avoid prolonged breathing of solvent vapors while installing. Always carry out the installation procedures using solvent cement in a well ventilated area. Incase of an enclosed area, use of artificial means of ventilation like an Exhaust Fan etc. is a good practice. Solvent Cement are highly inflammable and as such should be kept away from sources of ignition, heat, sparks and open flame at all times. It is advisable to have proper eye protection while handling solvent cement since it is an eye irritant and any eye contact due to splashing can cause an injury. In case of eye contact, flush with plenty of water for 15 minutes and visit a doctor. It also advisable to wear proper gloves while working with solvent cement to avoid skin contact. Usage of rags or barehands for application of solvent cement is not recommended. Always use a proper applicator for application of the same. Dispose of used applicators or rags used for wiping excess solvent cement or those used to clean spillage into a proper waste bin or receptacle as it is a flammable hazard.

Important : Always ensure that solvent cement being used are the same type as the pipe and fittings being installed. Except at the time of using, the solvent cement containers should be tightly closed to prevent solvent evaporation.
